Abstract
In this study, 7068 aluminum wrought alloy was produced by controlled diffusion solidification and conventional solidification. Then, the effect of controlled diffusion solidification on increasing the homogenization kinetics of this alloy after 6 and 12 hours heat treatment at a temperature of 450 ℃ was investigated with the help of EDS point analysis. The results of EDS point analysis showed that the alloy produced by controlled diffusion solidification after 12 hours of homogenization heat treatment has a more uniform chemical composition than the one with conventional solidification. The alloy produced by controlled diffusion solidification process is associated with rapid and numerous nucleation and non-equilibrium conditions at the solid/liquid interface in the early stages of solidification compared to conventional solidification, which leads to a significant accumulation of vacancies in the microstructure and Increases the homogenization kinetics of the alloy produced by controlled diffusion solidification.
